Police have received a number of complaints regarding phone fraud involving PSEG. Police Chief Strumolo urges residents to contact PSEG directly if anyone representing to be from there are seeking payment.

If you sell any item/s on the internet, DO NOT accept a check for more than the item was agreed to be sold. DO NOT deposit checks that have instructions to send a portion of that check to another location. The checks are fraudulent and you WILL lose money from your account.

7/6/18

******* Dog Bite- Police responded to Rutgers Pl. in response to a dog at large. Upon arrival, a woman told police that the dog attacked her dog causing injury. Police were able to identify the home where the dog resides, the owner was issued a summons.

******Missing Juvenile- Police took a report from a grandmother who reported her 16 y/o grandson missing. She told police he was dropped off in Lyndhurst and hasn’t seen or heard from him. Detectives were able to confirm a location and responded to Lyndhurst to assume custody of him. He was reunited and removed from missing person database.

******* Attempted theft of Vehicle- River Rd, Police responded to River Rd in response to a vehicle that had been entered. It appears the actor broke the steering column in an attempt to start the vehicle. Police are investigating.

*******Fight- Police responded to a call for help when a fight occurred at a local business, when the employer terminated one of their employees. While doing so the employee was enraged and threw water in the employer’s face that sparked a physical altercation. The terminated employee fled in a vehicle that was stopped several blocks away. No one was seriously injured and all parties were advised of their rights on how to sign complaints.

******Motor Vehicle Stop Warrant Arrest- Passaic Ave- a police officer stopped a Nissan Frontier and found the driver Henry Montero 43 y/o of Nutley to have an outstanding warrant. He was placed under arrest without incident, he was later found to be wanted by Livingston as well. He was processed and turned over to Livingston PD.

7/8/18

******* Motor Vehicle Accident- Franklin Ave, Police responded to Franklin Ave when a driver crashed into a parked motor vehicle. On scene Police removed the driver 28 y/o Marissa Grant of Bloomfield who was unconscious at the time. She was transported to an area hospital and later charged with being under the influence and possession of CDS.

*****Leaving the scene- Police responded to Harrison St when caller reported that their 2018 Honda Accord’s mirror had been struck, most likely by a passing vehicle that didn’t stop.

******911 Call from a woman locked in restaurant- Police responded to Burger King at 5:00 AM when a woman who apparently fell asleep in the ladies room woke and realized all the employees were gone and establishment locked and closed. Police made entry and sounded the alarm, prior to the business manager responding to reset system.

*****Burglary Attempt- Police responded to a Brookline Ave residence when caller reported that their door had been tampered with. Police discovered the moldings had damage and suspect a burglary attempt.

******Missing Person- Police took a report from a woman who reported her 16 y/o son missing. She reported to police that they had a dispute and he fled on foot in the area of Centre and Park Drive. Police searched the entire night for him, he returned home on his own the following day.

7/9/18

******Counterfeiting – Harrison St - Officers responded to the area regarding a report of a man attempting to use counterfeit money during a transaction. Actor was described as a black male in his late twenties, spiked hair and beard. Police took possession of the counterfeit bills and notified Secret Service.

******Motor Vehicle Stop- Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on E Passaic Ave and found the driver Jenny Goldstein 24 y/o from Montclair to be suspended and had active warrants for her arrest. She was placed into custody and taken to Headquarters where she posted bail and was released with a new court date.

*******Dispute- A Nutley resident observed a man yelling at a woman outside their car in the area of Walnut and McKinley. When the resident asked the woman if she was ok, the male threatened the resident with bodily harm. Police were called to the scene and unable to locate the actor or vehicle at this time.

7/10/18

***********Theft from Vehicle- Police responded to an Entwistle Ave resident who reported that their unlocked 2016 Nissan Rogue had been entered and items removed. Police are investigating this and other unlawful entries into vehicles. Residents are reminded to lock doors and remove valuables, to discourage actors from burglarizing vehicles.

******Criminal Mischief- Police responded to White Terr. when the resident reported someone had dumped garbage on their vehicle, a 2013 Jeep Wagon.

*******Theft from Vehicle- Police responded to a Coppola Ave residence when the caller reported his car had been entered over evening hours. Police conducted an investigation and warn residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables.

7/11/18

***********Motor Vehicle Investigation- Police stopped a motorist on Brookline Ave. for a routine motor vehicle violation and found the driver 23 y/o Jose Melendez-Melosevi of Belleville to be in possession of CDS. He was arrested transported to Headquarters where he was processed, given a court date and released.

7/12/18

***********Stolen Motorcycle- Police are investigating an incident in which two separate motorcycles were stolen from an E Centre St. building. Police believe the motorcycles were loaded into a white cargo van in the early morning hours. Anyone with information are asked to contact police 973-284-4940

********Motorcycle Accident- River Rd. Park Dr.- Police responded to a leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Park and River, and found a 40 y/o woman on the ground suffering injuries from colliding with a motor vehicle. According to witnesses, a suspect vehicle fled the scene, and was located a short time later by police. The victim remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver/suspect of the vehicle remains under investigation. Charges pending.

********Theft- Bloomfield Ave- Police responded to a Bloomfield Ave residence when the owner reported several pieces of equipment missing from his yard. Police are investigating.

********Unsupervised Child- Police responded to Park Ave when a caller reported a 5 year old walking around without a parent or guardian. Police were able to determine which home he came from and made contact with the guardian who believed the child was playing in his room, and never heard him leave the home.

********Stolen Vehicle- Park Ave Police took a report from a Park Ave resident that reported her 2008 Mini Cooper stolen. She told police it was parked in her assigned spot on Park Ave and went missing. It was entered into the stolen vehicle database and remains under investigation.

********Leaving the scene- Franklin Ave- Police responded to a Franklin Ave building adjacent to a parking area. The caller reported a large hole in a building, during police investigation it was determined that a vehicle struck the building and pushed in close to eight cement blocks exposing the interior of building. Fire Department and Code enforcement was called to the scene to ensure structure integrity was not compromised. Police are investigating who caused the damage and left scene without reporting.

***********Assault- Yantacaw Park- Police received a call from Palisades Medical Center, when the hospital advised that they had a patient that was assaulted in Nutley’s Yantacaw Park. According to the report, the man suffered a swollen eye and lost consciousness after being assaulted by an unknown actor. Police questioned the victim who did not wish to further the investigation.
