Commissioner Tucci Introduces New Program - “Aspiring Authors”

Posted

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and the Department of Parks and Recreation are pleased to introduce “Aspiring Authors” to the growing list of recreation programs this fall!

This program is open to Nutley residents in grades 1 through 6. Classes will be held on Wednesdays beginning October 10th and will run for 6 weeks. The fee for this program is 50.00 per child.

Dr. Stephanie Dalianis-Antell will be heading a fun filled class that incorporates both reading and writing to encourage the young author in your child! The classes will be based on different literary style’s and techniques, varying from writing their own autobiographies to fictional pieces. Based on age group, children are encouraged to bring in their favorite books which will be read in class and used as inspiration for the students own creative writing.

Weekly writing samples will be collected so that each child can assemble his/her own “book”. The last day of the course parents/caregivers are encouraged to join the class as the authors have their own personal book signing and read aloud a story they are most proud of.

Online registration is available at https://register.communitypass.net/nutley. For further information please contact the Department of Parks & Recreation at 973-284-4966 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
