St. Barnabas Hosts Cancer Survivor Programs
Event Date(s):
9/29/2010 - 11/25/2010
As a result of earlier detection, improved treatments and the supportive care of family and friends, there are now more than 10 million cancer survivors in the United States. Often following treatment for cancer, patients find that they need support that is different from their needs while in active treatment. To offer assistance, The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas Medical Center will once again present an 11-part Cancer Survivorship Lecture Series entitled “Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Patients Excel).” “As many survivors learn, recovery is not always the end of the cancer experience,” explains Angela McCabe, LCSW, OSW-C, Director of Psychosocial Support Services and Community Outreach at Saint Barnabas. “This program was created to address the wide variety of medical and emotional concerns patients have following treatment.” These free programs will provide an opportunity for cancer survivors and their families to hear from our multidisciplinary team at Saint Barnabas. This lecture series may help individuals transition onto their path of wellness.
