The Nutley Parks & Recreation’s Earth Day Celebration showcases that the environmental movement is alive and well and that the people of Nutley are engaged in making their communities healthier, safer and cleaner.

The Parks Department has announced plans for the eighth annual community clean up for project “Earth Day 2015” on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. “Our goal is to bring the community together and raise awareness of the effects that pollutants have on our environment. Our water, air and ultimately the Earth are sustaining more and more damage with each year that passes” stated Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.

Teams and individuals will be assigned a Park or School unless otherwise specified. All are encouraged to pitch in and help clean up our parks, schools and other designated areas. We encourage residents to make this a family event! Bring your Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brothers and Sisters to help make Nutley’s Earth Day Project a success!

Meetings have been scheduled for Monday, March 30, 2015 and Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Building. We will be developing teams and team leaders.

FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES K - 6 THERE WILL BE AN “EARTH DAY” POSTER CONTEST. The posters will be judged in three categories: K & 1st, 2nd - 4th, 5th & 6th. On the back of the poster please include Name, Address, Grade, School and Phone Number. Poster should be submitted by Thursday, April 16, 2015. The winning posters will be displayed for all the Earth Day.

Help make Nutley Parks & Recreation’s Earth Day Project a success. A closing ceremony will be held 3:30 p.m. at Kingsland Park. Refreshments will be distributed at this time.

“We are making a commitment to the next generation by building awareness around issues that will help maintain and restore a healthy lifestyle for our community”. As the fight for a clean environment continues, we need to educate the community and stress the importance of a clean, healthy, environment” stated Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci.
