Montclair Police blotter June 22 - Kicking a Police Car, Armed Robbery and Assorted crimes

Arrest:

06-19-2016 (Mission Street) Mr. Justin Davis (20yoa from Montclair) was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for engaging in tumultuous and violent behavior and kicking a marked police vehicle, resisting arrest by threatening and attempting to use physical force against law enforcement officers while they were attempting to make an arrest, and resisting arrest for flailing his arms attempting to prevent himself from being handcuffed. This arrest occurred after officers observed Mr. Davis involved in an altercation in the street.

On 06/11/2016 at approximately 1822Hrs, an armed robbery occurred at Delta Gas Station, 223 Harrison Avenue. Two suspects approached the gas attendant booth on foot, asking if he could sell them cigarettes. One of the suspects then grabbed the gas attendant by the throat and pushed him further into the booth. The other suspect then placed a gun against the attendant’s neck and demanded money. The suspects removed approximately $1000 cash from the attendant’s pockets. The suspects then fled on foot, east on Virginia Avenue. No injuries were reported. As a result of this investigation, Mr. Jamuga Wemusa (53yoa from Newark) and Mr. Ruben Tursi (44yoa from Elizabeth) were arrested and charged with Robbery, Assault, and Weapons Offenses. The Bloomfield Police Department Investigative Division was pivotal in bringing this armed robbery investigation to a successful conclusion. 06-20-2016 (Bloomfield Avenue) Mr. Jeffrey Ashe (60yoa from Newark) was arrested for open warrants out of Newark, totaling $7915. This arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop.

Miscellaneous:

06-17-2016 (Midland Avenue) A vehicle parked in a residential driveway had its two front tires slashed.

Thefts/Burglaries:

06-17-2016 (Soho Pizza, Valley Road) A burglary occurred sometime overnight. Access was gained through an unlocked window. Petty cash was taken.

06-17-2016 (Whole Foods, Bloomfield Avenue) Theft of a wallet from a patrons shopping cart while inside the store.

06-17-2016 (North Fullerton Avenue) Burglary to an apartment. Access was gained by prying open an entrance door. Jewelry and a computer were taken in this incident.

06-20-2016 (Merit Liquors, Bloomfield Avenue) Shoplifting of alcoholic beverages. The suspect is described as a Hispanic female, in her early 20's, approximately 5'2" and 120 pounds wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

06-20-2016 (Friendly Stationary, Watchung Avenue) Theft of two bundles of newspapers which had been delivered overnight.
