Do you remember the days of drive in movies?? The fresh air, the open space. Well we remember those days too and we are bringing the old time tradition back to Nutley. The Department of Parks and Recreation is excited to announce Nutley’s return of “Movie Under the Stars”. Similar to a drive in movie, spectators are welcome to bring a lawn chair or blanket and view a movie under the stars. The movie is projected on a large blown up screen, which will be set in DeMuro Park located on Margaret Ave. Equipped with a brand new screen and sound system, residents will enjoy this flick loud and clear.
Our second selection for 2014 is “Grown Ups 2”. After moving his family back to his hometown to be with his friends and their kids, Lenny finds out that between old bullies, new bullies, bus drivers, cops on skis, and 400 costumed party crashers sometimes crazy follows you. This film is rated PG13 but please be advised that the version being shown has been edited to suit all audiences.
“Our goal is to create a family environment for residents to come together and spend quality time with one another” stated Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci. Our youngsters learn about family values from the time they spend with their own. Our families are the single most important aspects of our lives but with the growing number of challenges we face when it comes to family time, whether it be our busy work schedules, increasing responsibilities or our children’s sport schedules, it is important we don’t forget to take time out to enjoy today. As recreation professionals we play an important role in molding some of the values that can gradually deteriorate within busy family schedules. By implementing and centering our efforts on family recreation we can be a tremendous positive force in our community.
This special event will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at DeMuro Park. What a great way to end the summer. This event promises to be “one of a kind”, so be sure to join us at DeMuro Park at dusk to experience this fun family event.
