Details are still sketchy but one fact is certain: a very serious train accident occurred during rush hour this morning in Hoboken.

As of 10:00 a.m. There is one person dead.

The train originated from Spring Valley.

There are reports of mass injuries, and serious injuries.

Eye witnesses said a New Jersey train sped right off the tracks and struck the terminal. The train reportedly ran full force right into the terminal.

Rail service is suspended in & out of Hoboken due to a train accident at Hoboken station.

It is unconfirmed that the engineer is dead, but eyewitness on the scene, who is an engineer on another train line and was on the scene, said he looked like the engineer was killed in the crash.

NJ TRANSIT STATEMENT ON TRAIN ACCIDENT AT HOBOKEN STATION

HOBOKEN, NJ — At approximately 8:45 a.m. train #1614, a Pascack Valley line departure from Spring Valley operating to Hoboken, struck the Hoboken Terminal building on track 5. Initial reports indicate multiple critical injuries. Rail service in/out of Hoboken is suspended due to the incident. HBLR and PATH are also suspended into and out of Hoboken Terminal. NJ TRANSIT bus, private carriers and ferry services are cross-honoring NJT rail tickets and passes.
