From February 6 through April 15, United Way of North Essex Family Success Center is providing Free Tax Preparation in partnership with the Tax Aide Program of AARP Foundation, the IRS and the Montclair Public Library. All residents of North Essex are eligible to have their tax returns prepared Free of Charge by trained and certified volunteers. Appointments will be available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to Noon at the United Way Building, 60 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair and Tuesdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue.

Starting January 11, residents of our towns (Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Montclair, North Caldwell, Roseland, Verona and West Caldwell) can call 973-746-4235 to make an appointment Thursday, Friday or Saturday OR 973-744-0500 to make an appointment on Tuesday. Appointments are necessary so call as soon as possible.

You will need to bring the following documentation with you for the Tax Preparation appointment: a valid form of picture ID; a copy of your 2008 Federal and State tax return; Social security or Tax ID number and birth dates for yourself, your spouse and your dependents; Wage and earnings statement forms W-2 and 1099 from all employees; A blank check or bank account name, number and routing number for direct deposit. In addition, if any of the following apply, also bring them to the appointment: Child Care expenses (including the provider’s address and federal ID number); Mortgage company statements; Adoption expenses; Alimony paid or received; Any notice from the IRS or state tax office; Property tax bills, College tuition and student loan interest statements; Additional forms of income such as prizes, awards, scholarships, lottery/gambling winnings.
