Rainier enjoys creating works of art in a variety of medium (painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and video) and is currently working in photography and digital art. “My current body of work has a foundation in photography but I am not satisfied with doing strictly photographic images, my interests lie in the options that digital art can give me concerning the images that I take with my camera, whether it be my Nikkon SLR or my cellphone” said Rainier. “My interests lie in discovering the qualities hidden in an image when I pass it through one of the many apps that I use on my Iphone. I have a variety of tools that I use to render a final processed images, manipulating, blending, layering, stretching, coloring and doing all sorts of photo mangling. Most of the time I push the image in a certain direction purposefully, trying to get results that will give the image a specific look. Other times I lean towards an abstracted image that reveals itself spontaneously when I layer numerous images together. I start seeing illusory images that resemble something that is not really there, like creating a stormy day when the original image was taken during a sunny day.”

Rainier stated “Covering the influences from surrealism to the psychedelic art of the 60's with a hint of

impressionism and abstraction has given my art the qualities that I have worked towards for many

years, being able to achieve that through photography and the use of my cell phone has allowed me to

achieve that.”

Be sure take time out of your busy day and enjoy this breathtaking exhibit on display in the gallery throughout the month of August.
