Caldwell Police Chief shares crossing points with police for Halloween after-school children

Posted

Today, right after the public schools in Caldwell and West Caldwell close, you may hear the sound of thunder - as hundreds of excited, costumed children hit Bloomfield Avenue to trick or treat.

Every year, this tradition brings hundreds of children and their families to downtown Caldwell for this small-town high energy Halloween treat.

Caldwell police chief James (Jim) Bongiorno said his police officers will be positioned in particular spots to help pedestrians stay safe while crossing.

The Caldwell Merchants Association hosts this wildly popular event eveyr year, and today it will be between 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Police officers will be at Bloomfield and Roseland Avenue; at Bloomfield and Smull Avenue and at Bloomfield and Park.

You may also cross at Central Avenue, which has a light so please follow the correct crossing guidelines and do NOT cross when the light is green!

Safe trick or treating everyone!
