As DeCamp Strike Continues, - Bus Commuters Enjoying Train
Now that bus commuters are taking the train, and enjoying it, will DeCamp have a much bigger problem to deal with when the strike is over?

Labor Day is over, and commuters are scrambling back to work today.

Drivers, mechanics and other union members who work for DeCamp Bus are still on strike.

And, NJ Transit is experiencing something they have not seen in a few years - a marked increase in customers.

With a new meeting between DeCamp management and the union, thrashing out an agreement about bonus details, new hire salaries and 401K changes will be discussed.

According to an employee at DeCamp, there is a meeting today and "maybe this will be resolved by Thursday".

But the sour economy has impacted NJ Transit, and with this new surge of about 7,500 bus commuters who are now taking the train, DeCamp may be in for a shock once the strike is called off.

Adding to the inconvenience for commuters who must switch their mode of travel into NYC and other areas is the reality that unemployment is over 9 percent, and just about anyone you speak to will complain about increased hours, more job pressure and lower pay.

During this tough economic Great Recession-Depression, going on strike has not seemed to resonate with bus commuters. Speaking at the train station in Upper Montclair and Glen Ridge, commuters did not voice any support for the strike.

Instead, men and women waited for the train, and no one seemed put out or supportive of the union members who have been on strike since last Thursday.

Updates to follow.
